Innovations in Power Delivery
Our founder, Ken Smith, has been in the marine industry for 38 years. The last 8 years included rebuilding yachts that had been damaged due to fire. In many of these yachts, the fire originated from the shore power system. After years of seeing this recurring problem, Ken decided to change his business concept from reactionary to precautionary. Beginning with a pencil sketch, he began to formulate the concept of SmartPlug Systems. Along with a hand picked team, Ken set out to create a new design incorporating key safety features and an ergonomic structure into a new shore power connection design.
The innovative SmartPlug System is designed to retrofit the existing power inlets on boats as well as the corresponding plugs on the shore power cords. Our goal at SmartPlug Systems is to give consumers an option when it comes to their shore power system needs, allowing them the choice of a product that is ergonomic, with more safety features at a similar cost. In order to assure the highest level of quality to consumers, all of the products are undergoing rigorous testing as established by leading authorities in the marine electrical industry. SmartPlug Systems will also be offering this product line to OEMs and marinas.
